Xert Adaptive Training Advisor, XSS and FOCUS Recommendations

Well, it’s 0700 and I’ve got two or three cups of coffee in me, so let’s write and learn a little.

Here’s the recommendation from Xert’s Adaptive Training Advisor for today:

I decided to include the Xert Adaptive Training Program Chart, so you could see where I stand on Phase, Hours, and the Goal Date.

Today’s Workout Goal for XSS reads 83 XSS.

The FOCUS Type reads ENDURANCE (21:17).

Xert REALLY wants me to do some base LSD training.

Honestly, I’ll have to see after walking the dogs. The weather is perfect, and I’m preparing another series of blog posts on the Quarq Shockwiz, and my work with a professional shock tuner to optimize my front and rear suspension.

But for now, I’m going to get some laps in on the mountain bike, and I’ll include both the Xert link, as well as the Ride With GPS Link. Here’s yesterday’s ride, just for the record: https://ridewithgps.com/trips/56657668

Note: Why RWGPS and not Strava?

Well, I think the Stravaverse is getting increasingly corrupted by e-bikes and cheaters. Just have a look at this Strava segment. https://www.strava.com/segments/2468118/compare/MjcyNTA1MzE4MTIwODI2NDY5NCw0Mzc1OTc2MzA3

Go to the ‘overall’ results. This segment ENDS AT MY MAILBOX. It’s right in front of my house. Look at the Top 2 performances… One is from 2014, and the other is from July of this year. They’re both impossible times — unless you’re in a car.

Due to some past misadventures, I have a camera in the front of my house, and a recorder. I looked at the July date, and the time, on my camera, and saw NO CYCLISTS CLIMBING THIS SEGMENT. Then, I noticed that this guy’s WIFE has the EXACT SAME TIME as he does. Then I looked again, and… well… They were driving with their Garmins on.

So I’m sticking with the values from RWGPS and I know them a lot better, personally, and trust them when I make challenges to segments, which are pretty rare occurrences.

I’ll report back after my ride.

One More Thing

My fitness signature is slowly dropping, so I’ll get some base riding out on the road on Saturday, but I’ll also be climbing the grade where my November Challenge is located. I’ll videotape that climb, and will share it with you for a future project with Xert Training and Coaching.
