Xert Training Pacer – 10/4/2020

Xert Training Pacer is right at 12 O’clock.

The needle on my Xert Training Pacer is right at 12 O’Clock, but if I don’t ride today, the 24-hour triangle shows that I’ll slip back towards 11 O’Clock. The Xert Adaptive Training Advisor is recommending a 109 XSS ride, with an Xert FOCUS on “Endurance”, or “–:–“.

The Xert Training Pacer is at 12 O’Clock, so I’m right on target. The Xert Adaptive Training Advisor is recommending a LIGHT ride at low intensity.

I’m going to head out now with my wife, and will report back soon.

POST-RIDE Xert Training Pacer Values

Let me begin by saying it was just a gorgeous ride, albeit with lots of smoke and haze. We rode in Portola, California, and I largely followed the plan.

Here’s the ride loop from Ride With GPS.

And here are several screenshots I took from the Garmin 1030, showing the Xert Garmin Fields every 100 KiloJoules or so.

Look at FOCUS and Carbs…. What happened?

Well, that hill at mile 21 is what happened….!

I paced myself to a PR.

Here’s the effort. I used the Xert Segment Hunter a little bit, but I had set it at 9:00, and it ended up not being as useful this time.

Climb just under, then over, FTP, and go ORANGE near the end.

About half an hour later, there was another climb. This one, I used the Xert Segment Hunter to greater effect.

I didn’t drain my MPA, but I did pace myself to my goal.

But have a look at my Garmin Xert Fields…

Focus is down to 30:30, and Carbs now outpace fat. Time for a slow-roll home.

The beauty of this ride is that my wife and I were now able to just slow-roll back to the car, and I could focus on bringing the FAT grams back up and closer to the Carb grams.

The end?

Garmin Xert Fields October 4 2020 1277 kj
1:1 ratio of Fat and Carbs, more than enough points, and a fairly aerobic day.

The Xert Training Pacer responded as thus:

The yellow triangle is now right at 1 O’Clock. I think I’ve earned a day off.
