Xert XSS and Focus.
Saturday’s Big Ride, per the Xert Adaptive Training Advisor, recommended 121 XSS, and a FOCUS of 20:30. Here’s what I posted this morning:

Now, you’ll notice on LINE 1, that my OVERALL XSS deficit is just 134 XSS. If you look at the one sentence in paragraph 2 of the image, it says that my Training Status is FRESH, and I should consider an endurance ride of 121 XSS.
SO – I rode with my wife, and we did our usual loop, which is this awesome mix of flat terrain, and two incredible mountain passes that form into a loop of about 55 miles. The first two hours, we rode at an easy pace, just caught up with each other about our week, our families, friends, work, etc. It’s QUALITY time together, because no one gets dropped, and if one of us does, we have plenty of places to wait.
A Tale of TWO Rides In One – Recommended Xert XSS and Focus dictated Base and Endurance First…
Here’s what my Garmin 1030 Screen recorded, every 100 KiloJoules or thereabouts, for the first two hours….

Part 1 of the ride is over – I still have a Goal, but “There Be Hills On the Horizon.”
This is a TEXTBOOK example of an ENDURANCE RIDE.
FAT and CARBS are roughly at a 1:1 ratio. That means in terms of CALORIES, I’m 2:1 on Fat. This is about ECONOMY.
MPA has not been touched. I have BANKED my HIE (High Intensity Energy), and my FOCUS is PURELY AEROBIC. The Difficulty is showing about 35 XSS per Hour. I’m using the economy of my body, and the bike, and the environment to full effect. I AM GROWING MY LTP (Lower Threshold Power).
What happens next? Well…. Read on.
