Xert Adaptive Training Advisor Rainbow Dial Xert ATA and Extra Points.
Xert Adaptive Training Advisor recommends 114 XSS, but my deficit is just 35 points. I’m going to ride easy and play around on my mountain bike for an hour.

Here’s the workout recommendation from the Xert ATA. It shows that I have an XSS deficit of 35 points. It’s recommending 114 points for the day.

I’m going to ride out by the house to get the Xert ATA and Extra Points. 35 points alone. I don’t need much, and the day is already half over.

I’ll ride for a FOCUS that is “High” for me. That means I’ll ride for a FOCUS outside of 20:00, but I may not get there. Remember – Higher FOCUS numbers means an EASIER RIDE.

I’ll check in again after I’m done, and I’m going to start blogging about my ShockWiz settings for suspension on my mountain bike.

Edit – Post-Ride: Xert ATA and Extra Points..

I finished the ride. It was another beautiful fall day in Northern Nevada, and I just plugged along. I used Jeep Roads and listened to my bike squeak and rattle. It was easy. I had fun. The ride was cathartic.

Here’s the Garmin Screen Shot…

I showed a Training Deficit of 35 points, and I rode for that goal. It barely nudged the needle, but it was 400 KiloJoules spent.

Notice the FOCUS. It was highly aerobic, and fairly polarized. Still – 400 KiloJoules is not a shy workout. Most SPIN classes burn about as many. Time was just under one hour, but elevation gain was about 1150 feet. I do not believe that I could have achieved this 36 point score without burning at least this many KiloJoules, especially on a mountain bike, where everything is harder.

My next post will be something completely different, and will discuss my use of the ShockWiz system from Quarq. I’ll make that one an ongoing series, just like this one. What I HAVE learned is that on a mountain, you have to use XSS and FOCUS a bit differently, but a good suspension setup will help you descend AND climb better.
