Garmin Connect Recorded NO Time Awake Last Night!

Did a Sleeping Pill help me rest better? Am I ready for a breakthrough effort?

Continuing down this path of measuring and analyzing my sleeping pattern, Garmin Connect showed what my sleeping pattern was after I took a sleeping aid.

Honestly, I think I slept incredibly well. I woke up completely refreshed, and the Garmin Connect Sleep Chart confirmed my intuitions. I got in almost two hours of DEEP Sleep. The chart reveals over 90 minutes of REM sleep. Most importantly, I did not wake up in the middle of the night, which is most disruptive. When I checked my watch around 6am, the “Sleep Score”, showed 92 points. Unfortunately, I cannot find Sleep Score on Garmin Connect. I will contact them to see if I can locate this information on a chart somewhere.

Garmin Connect Showed A Deep Sleep of 1hr 50min

I believe the most important aspect of any athlete’s recovery is earned in Deep Sleep. Ideally, we want about 80 minutes of Deep Sleep. Last night, I earned almost TWO HOURS of deep sleep! I woke up refreshed, and honestly, hungry for a great workout today.

REM Sleep on Garmin Connect was 1hr 51min!

REM Sleep is also very restorative. We want about 90 minutes of REM every night. Last night, I earned 110 Minutes of REM Sleep, and THAT also made a difference.

NO Time Spent Awake

The biggest issue that I suffer from is late night or early morning awakenings. I can’t understand it. I am not under undue stress. I sleep in the cold. The room is dark. I really don’t drink more than 2 beers or glasses of wine a night. We are eating really well. But most nights, I wake up once or twice. It takes me about an hour to get back to sleep. THAT robs me of my REM and Deep Sleep values. But when I take a Sominex, which is not frequent, I usually sleep through the night. Last night was no exception. Garmin Connect reflects that in the Sleep Score.

The Proof Is In the Workout

I’m going to make a solid effort to get in a great ride today. I truly believe that a great workout starts the night before the ride. This will be recorded, and I’ll upload the results in a separate video.

Thanks for reading, thanks for watching, and ENJOY THE RIDE!
